Wheelchair Basketball Canada partners with Sun Life helping to bring Hoops & Health to Yonge-Dundas Square

Paralympians Patrick Anderson and Kady Dandeneau to participate in July 3 event

Wheelchair Basketball Canada (WBC) is pleased to announce a partnership with Sun Life to help Canadians live healthier lives through the power of basketball. Paralympians Patrick Anderson and Kady Dandeneau will join Canada Basketball athletes at the Hoops & Health Basketball Tournament alongside Sun Life to help Canadians gain better access to health services and reach their health goals.

“WBC is excited to partner with Sun Life and support the Hoops & Health basketball tournament, helping raise awareness on how wheelchair basketball can help Canadians live healthier lives,” said Wendy Gittens, Chief Executive Officer, Wheelchair Basketball Canada. “The event will provide an excellent opportunity to introduce those attending to the exciting, fast-paced nature of wheelchair basketball as we gear up for this summer’s Paralympic Games.”

Taking place on Wednesday, July 3, at Yonge-Dundas Square in Toronto, Sun Life and Canada Basketball are inviting all Canadians to be fans of their health and experience a 3×3 charity tournament, participate in basketball skills and drills, try wheelchair basketball, and meet Team Canada players—all while learning more about how to live a healthy life.

“Sun Life has a long-standing focus on proactive and preventive health and wellness programs that help build stronger, healthier communities,” says Alison Chick, Senior Vice-President, Health Solutions, Sun Life Health. “Through our diverse range of health solutions, we’re making it easier for Canadians to navigate, access, and afford the care they want and need. We’re thrilled to have Wheelchair Basketball Canada as part of our team to ensure we’re helping Canadians reach their health goals through the power of basketball.”
